We do imagine it! For those of us that have fought, our entire lives, for equal rights, same pay, healthcare, and so many other things, the losses are real and painful. We all deserve betterπ
The picture of Kamala Harris and President Zelenskyy made me think of what might have been, what could have been, what should have been. I am very glad Ukraine has a hero president. It stinks that America has a zero president. We have to deal with life as it is, though, not what we wish it was. Weβll get through it. Writers such as you, Viktor, definitely help. Thank you. πΊπ¦πΊπΈ
Viktor, your words still amaze me. How you can understand the turmoil in our country when many canβt. How you can see and feel it when so many choose not to. Thank you for your words. πΊπ¦πΊπΈ
Ditto re: Kamala! AND also for your standing with us, Victor, in our crumbling two hundred year old "experiment in democracy" which Project 25/Heritage Foundation is working strenuously to dismantle and replace with some kind of male fever dream.
I never ever thought I would pray that a President of my country should be demoted to prison to pay his debts to society. Enough. It's an abomination, what they are attempting. Your work is so much more important and worthy of my prayers.
We've not disappeared, nor are we asleep. We are waiting. We are protesting. The recent elections? We are winning. I know the rest of the world is stepping up to fill the space we've withdrawn from, Victor. All I can say is to hang in there. We'll be back. Evil sometimes wins, but only for a brief time. The good will return, better than before.
You hit the nail on the head, Viktor. In the line of succession to the president, there is no one on the horizon that is much better. So I agree with you totally use the system we need to change. Itβs almost like we have to start from scratch here. But there are lessons to learn and we will move forward. I didnβt vote for the orange menace either time and Iβve been wondering how did we get here? I still donβt have the answer, but I am seeking it. This whole era proves to me that you need to stay active and engaged, because it matters.
You are right Viktor, the US and Russia need a whole regime change not just cutting off the head of the beast.
I remember seeing a documentary on Trump and his fatherβs motto was βif you donβt win, youβre a loser!β This was drilled into Trump from a young age. While this doesnβt excuse his behaviour it does explain it. Even when he loses, Trump still has to do everything possible to look like a winner (lie, blame others, ignore the facts, change the topic, demean others to make them look like the losers etc) . It is a sad and dangerous situation for one with so much power. Combine that with declining cognitive function, a narcissistic personality and the bunch of fawning stooges he appointed to positions of power - thatβs the dangerous reality the US faces. No checks, no balances- just greed for more money and power! The stooges may well topple Trump before anyone else does - once he becomes a burden to their path to more power.
Thank you, Viktor. You did sound strong and wise, and I think we in the US must learn from your experience.
You are right: as repulsive and vile as Trump is, he is only one man. He has already built a system around him of long-time supporters and turncoat Johnies-come-lately. There is a line of succession, people as corrupt and greedy as he is, ready to sit at the Resolute Desk should he die. Vance is no better, and Johnson is bad but weak. After him is Republican Senator Chuck Grassly, a physician who abandoned science and ethics to support Robert Kennedy jr.βs appointment as the head of the Department of Health and Human Services. The system already exists, and you are right, it is the reality that we face, the reality in which we exist. I only wish that we knew best how to change it.
I am sad to say that Doug Emhoff, Ms. Harris' husband, is still working for a law firm that capitulated to Trump. Ms. Harris, apparently, does not have the strength, commitment, and courage that your President Zelensky has. I am living on Social Security in NYC. I was a social worker who didn't spend my working years accumulating money so I could live in a fancy mansion. Doug Emhoff & Kamala Harris could undoubtedly live off their savings until they get another job. It is hard to imagine a valid reason for him to continue to work at that law firm. It would have meant a lot if he would have walked away from it. They have a huge voice in this country & beyond.
So, I am not nostalgic. I do not pine after the country with Kamala Harris as president (though it would have been better than what we are living through now). I do not think she had the insight & courage to stop Trump and his goons & monsters; just as I am sad that President Biden, for all his sincere attributes and the good things he did as President, was unable to see what Trump & the Heritage Foundation was planning and stop it from the first day of his term. It is what it is.
I am grateful Zelensky ran for President in Ukraine. I am glad he won & I am awed by his willingness to stand up for all that is good in this world. Our leaders are human. They don't have to be perfect. They just need to have an ethical, transcending vision and follow through with strength, courage and compassion.
Thank you for such a direct description of what is happening and why we are all in this together. We have to keep moving forward and facing everything directly. We have to keep standing up for what is right and questioning and demanding for truth and honesty. We must never kneel and give up. There is power in the people as our history shows. Please stay safe. Slava UkraineπππΊπ¦πΊπΈ
You are so right, what might have been is not what is. We have to fight the fight we are faced with. We can and we will find peace and freedom in both our beautiful lands.
I agree with what you say. I feel there is much in my heart that I want to express but unfortunately it is like a big blender of feelings turned on high. So until I am able to put it into my own words I think you have down a good job of articulating much of what I feel. Thank you!! We are indeed connected!

Thank you again for standing by us Americans. It helps to know that you are there for us in spirit, as we are there for you.
I was so excited for Kamala. . . Despite what others have said, I think she would have made a wonderful president.
