We read the news for signs of hope, too, neighbor. Ukraine helps us steel our spines. Ukraine has been holding the line for democracy, and we will resist the authoritarian creep of a brutal dictator and his American puppet, Donald Trump. We must also strategize to divest from Elon Musk, Peter Thiel, Jeff Besoz, and Sam Altman-- billionaires who are betting against democracy and siding with anti-democratic forces.
Viktor, what an inspiration you are, whether you know it or not. I know you marched in Madison, WI because I thought of you and Ukraine as I joined 18k of my new friends. I took your words of solidarity and resistance to the streets and loudly, proudly shouted No Kings!
Together, you and I will March again for both of our countries.
Thank you Viktor! As a Canadian I never thought this would happen, but it did! Americans can be proud of having shown the world the POWER OF THE PEOPLE! I wish them and everyone in Ukraine complete VICTORY.
It seems to be so many places in the world right now where people are saying No to autocratic rule. Some countries are dodging the problem, while others like S Korea have had to do more than vote to clean it up. And then there is Ukraine, fighting it off from an invading nation. I am weirdly hopeful, because at the heart of ti all seems to be greed from a minority of the rich and powerful. Unlike in times past, this problem has gone global, and we're going to have to come together to find a global solution.
We as in humanity, whatever constitutes normal folk. The super rich manage to bypass national laws with some ease, which is how they retain their influence. The most obvious to any Americans would be those offshore accounts in the Caymans to dodge taxes. Russian oligarchs have their own methods. That can't be reined in without cooperation between people's of various nations. The UN is a nice rough draft, but the time has come to rethink how we, and I don't mean oligarchs, decide things work on an international level.
Isn't the UN an example of a direct democracy? That has its advantages and disadvantages... :-/
Whatever we come up with, once and for all, will have to be even stronger and yet more flexible than our own U.S. Constitution...and with safeguards in place to avoid having someone like "President" Trump and "President" Putin, ad nauseam, taking control of it /all/.
Direct democracy is where citizens make decisions directly, without anyone in the middle. Think ballot propositions. As for the UN, it's long been understood that reforms are needed to make it function better. The idea that any nation that turns oppressive could even be on the Security Council is a joke. Why does Russia have the veto power it does? Because they were on the winning side in a war 80 years ago? So what? Also the UN has no means to enforce decisions. We now have other models to look at for ideas too, such as what the EU is doing. And a crisis era has a way of revealing other ways of doing things as well, and we sure are in one of those times. The League of Nations and the UN were both born of such times. Sorry this is TLDR. Unraine will, with other places in the world, provide a light from darkness in time. I just wish humanity could learn without the death and destruction for once, but it seems we can't.
Victor, your words “this is about both our countries” are so true. As each of our countries struggle and fight for democracy and the right to exist free from dictators, we Americans learn from and lean on Ukrainians. The bravery and courage shown to the world by your countrymen and women is a shingle example of never giving up. Yet you take time to care about what happens here and that humbles me. Keep fighting and know that we are with you and keep writing and know we hear you. Thank you. Slava Ukrainii 🇺🇦
Viktor, you’re going to see this again. I’m hoping the groundswell of folks joining is tremendous. We will stand firm and defend our rights - and Ukraine’s. 💙❤️🇺🇦❤️💙
Thank you Viktor, my Neighbor, my Friend! Thank you for keeping me & my countrymen & women inspired! Thank you for caring about America, as we care about Ukraine, your people & you. Thanks for holding our collective hands! You give us hope, strength, and vision of victory to come for us all.

Yes. Every time I read about Ukraine standing strong, Ukraine fighting back, it gives me courage to stand up myself.
Keep that faith Viktor! We draw strength and inspiration from Ukraine! Stay strong! 🇺🇲🇺🇦
Don't we ever! It takes a lot to get my people off their sofas, but seeing what Ukrainians do makes us get over taking so much for granted.
Slava Ukraini!

We are towing this line for freedom and peace ☮️
We can’t lose hope.
Stay safe Dear Viktor.
Always,
Lina
And we are holding that line for Ukraine as well.

It that “ we “ you are speaking of , the regular people , that have the true power.
Don’t believe me ? Let’s see a general strike in the USA. See what happens. All those billionaires only make money if all the “ minions “ are working.

Well, war is, among other things: lucrative, gives false hope to the desperate, and deep down is a territory grab. :-/
Even chimpanzees do that in the wild, and they didn't get it from us; apparently, it's the other way around. X-P
But we can be better than our origins, hopefully, someday... :)
Thank you, Viktor. We welcome your support and Ukraine's.
Viktor, you and your Ukraine people are our inspiration.
